My name is Lisa and I was hoping to share my story with you and anyone else who it might help. My husband and I have been trying to start our family for 3 years now. For unknown reasons I have a lot of trouble getting pregnant, but with the help of some fertility treatments I was finally able to get pregnant. Unfortunately I also have trouble staying pregnant.
3 years and 3 miscarriages later we decided it was time for a break from the physical and mental strain of infertility. We choose to take a year to focus on us and the things we love to do. One of the many nasty things about infertility is that it consumes your entire life, it puts everything on pause. It was time to hit play and do all the things we had been putting on hold because “what if” I was pregnant. Backpacking, skiing, and mountaineering here we come! In July we will be making a summit attempt of Mount Rainier in Washington State. I decided to use this opportunity to turn something that had caused me a lot of pain throughout this whole experience and turn it into something positive. Thus I created “pack updates”. My own version of “bump updates”, where I track the growth and adventures of my pack as we train and near summit day. I started these updates 2 months ago and my hope is that someone else who is struggling will see them, smile, and know that they too can find joy in life again.
